Cookie #4 Smore's Galore Cookie

This cookie is addicting!!!! Right after they come out and cool for about 5 minutes the chocolate is soft and melty and the marshmallows are sticky-gooey! Mmmm.... They were pretty easy to mix up but a bit tedious when it comes to baking. You actually drop them by tablespoons on the sheet and then bake for about 7 minutes. Pull them out and push in marshmallows and chopped up chocolate bar. Then bake again for about 3 minutes.  I did have to leave these on the cookie sheet to cool for about 4 minutes or so. They just seemed to set up and not be quite as gooey coming off the cookie sheet that way. Let's just say...I do pretty good when baking not to eat too many but these I could NOT resist! I am positive I had 4 the first day!! Yikes!  I will be making these again this week for our school's open house so i guess you could say that these are definitely a keeper!!!

Cookie #3 Grandma's Sugar Cookies From Heaven (I didn't forget last week!)

Ok..so I have some work to do on my pictures! I tried to do the whole tea cup, plate and cookies and my camera did not focus right. I will post on the bottom for you to see! These cookies are absolutely "heavenly!" These have been in my family for as long as I can remember. They are a crisp sugar cookie that melts in your mouth. Not kidding! They just melt. So as you can imagine...you cannot eat just one and walk away.  One of my faves from long, long ago.  I know I am supposed to be trying new recipes but these got baked for another occasion and I couldn't not include them in this blog! Been doing some great research and have some awesome cookies coming!!!
My one baking tip of the week: Do NOT use generic baking ingredients. It does change the cookies and I have had them flop completely when I try to skimp! For me, it's not worth the risk! Have a great week and bake something yummy! Your family will love you for it! I never thought this whole cookie thing would take off but today Grant (almost 10) asked, "Where's the new cookies? The cookie of the week? What's it going to be?" He was so excited that it practically made me melt inside!

Sparkling Orange Cookies

This week's cookie is a Sparkling Orange Cookie.  The only way to describe this cookie is maybe a soft sugar cookie with orange flavoring and walnuts. I altered this recipe to add more walnuts and added an orange glaze over the top. It just needed something and I think that was it! Not my favorite recipe ever but one I will keep! I am hoping at the end of this to print the recipes in a book.  (Possibly??) If there is one that jumps out at you and you really want the recipe, let me know! I would be more than happy to send it your way!!! You might be wondering why the "sparkling" for the title of this one.  Well, it is rolled in sugar and after it bakes it seems to have a sparkle about it! It's not an every day kind of cookie but still worth making again. Go out on a limb this week!  Bake something new, try a new recipe or research a couple and set them aside for another day! Happy Baking!

My Go To Cookie

Here is a pic of my "Go To Cookie." Everyone has one...it's that cookie that you bake when in a pinch because you know the recipe by heart! Well, Luke is star student this week and he specifically asked for these! I sometimes go as far as sorting my M & M's to match the holiday or sporting event colors! I do love doing that!! Happy Wednesday! New cookie for the week coming tonight! I baked them last night and have lots to say!

My First Cookie....Tender Italian Sugar Cookies

So this is the first cookie I chose to bake.  Why? Well, I had all the ingredients and I wanted to start today! I would just like to say...my experiment? It's starting off great!!! Well, probably like most New Year resolutions do...but hey, I already have one new recipe that's going in the book! These are taste like a soft sugar cookie on the inside with a slight, crispy shell on the outside.  The icing just adds that little bit of sweetness to make this cookie amazing! And if you are like me, I love to have my icing match the event I am taking them to. So this recipe makes it so easy to do that when you tint the icing.  Happy Baking!

What is The Cookie Experiment?

Cookies are the ultimate dessert.  They are easy to grab and eat on the way. They can satisfy a sweet tooth without sabotaging a diet completely. They come in so many shapes, sizes and endless kinds.  The problem with cookies is that it's easy to find one recipe that you love and that ends up being "your cookie" that you bake for every gathering and every birthday party.  I would be lying if I say that I haven't fallen into that trap.  So it got me thinking! (Watch out!)  I am a stay-at-home mother of three boys.  They, too, just so happen to love cookies! I have decided to take on the challenge of making one new cookie a week.  If I am ambitious and it's an easy week, it might be 2-3 kinds.  My goal in doing this? My hope is to walk away with some new, yummy cookie recipes that help me "switch it up" when I go somewhere. Hopefully you will enjoy reading about my new adventure in the kitchen!
